San Francisco, CA to Bangor, ME – 0 hiking miles

We spent our afternoon in Bangor, Maine the way hikers typically do in town: buying massive quantities of shelf stable food, sorting trail meals on the floor of a hotel room, and eating a huge restaurant dinner.

Dad and I each scored giant pepperonis from Walmart, which I am already beginning to worry I will regret. Tomorrow we will make our way to Mt. Katahdin in Baxter State Park, the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail.
